Mattia Casagrande ( born 1980, Venice, Italy ) studied at the Art High School of Venice until 2001. In 2003 he moved to Vienna and joined the University of Applied Arts of Vienna where he graduated in 2010.
He actually lives and works between Vienna , Tuscany and Venice.
Mattia Casagrande’s painting stands out for its original synthesis of en plein air tradition and a deep focus on color as a central vehicle of emotional expression. His artistic research places him in ideal continuity with the tradition of 20th-century Venetian painting, known for its intense and personal use of color—one that transcends mere visual description to become an inner vision.
A Venetian artist based in Vienna, Casagrande brings an international dimension to his work while maintaining a strong connection to the cultural and landscape heritage of his native region. The result is a form of contemporary landscape painting in which the landscape is no longer just a subject to depict, but an emotional and atmospheric space evoked through color. His works do not simply portray a view; they convey an inner resonance of place—landscapes that become states of mind, visions that transform the experience of reality into painterly emotion.
